In a video, Donald Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is currently our country’s highest-ranking diplomat, says that he believes that the rapture is real and is coming. In the video he says:
“We will continue to fight these battles, it is a never ending struggle… until the Rapture.”
This timeline just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

What “battle” is he referring to, precisely?
Marriage equality, of course.
One of the “battles” Pompeo is going to fight until the Rapture: opposing marriage equality. He’s talking about the Obergefell decision, this is from 6-28-2015 pic.twitter.com/8HEUW6iyFA

And just to add insult to injury, Pompeo endorsed a prayer that says multiculturalism and homosexuality is evil.
And here’s Pompeo endorsing a prayer that called multiculturalism and homosexuality “evil.” “We’d endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.” pic.twitter.com/s6YdB8QGfl

As Hemant Mehta at Friendly Atheist points out, the video in question is from 2015, before Pompeo was part of Trump’s administration. But it just goes to show what sort of quality individuals we have running our country right now.
In the speech, he also talks about the “evil” of homosexuality and multiculturalism. But none of this is news to anyone who’s followed Trump’s Cabinet officials. We knew last year that Pompeo, then Trump’s CIA Director, was taking part in the White House’s Bible study group run by Ralph Drollinger.
…
It’s well-documented that he’s the sort of Christian who should be as far away from foreign policy decisions as possible since he views the world in apocalyptic terms and sees Muslims — all Muslims — as a kind of existential threat to humanity.
Can you imagine the outrage from conservatives if Pompeo was Muslim and expressed happy thoughts about Mohammad cleansing the world of non-Muslims?
This would be funny if it wasn’t so frustrating. We have someone leading our country in diplomacy who is also publicly expressing belief in end times prophecy. What’s the point of diplomacy with other nations if you honestly think that the end of the world is coming and a god is going to protect you from the horrors that are to come?
