Viral Twitter thread chronicles the long history of right-wing violence

Despite the fact that a right wing extremist just sent a baker’s dozen bombs to prominent democrats and actual research showing the majority of domestic terrorism is from right wing extremists, there is a myth perpetuated by conservatives that the left is “out of control.”

Investigative journalist David Neiwert, who is the author of Alt-America: The Rise of The Radical Right in the Age of Trump, has chronicled violence caused by extremist conservatives, and recently shared it on Twitter.

And the evidence is… Overwhelming.

Exactly. There’s a huge difference here. We have many, many data points for right-wing violence. We can point at many incidents as evidence. But there are rather few specific incidents of left-wing extremist violence, though you wouldn’t believe that’s the case if you listened to Fox News.

Agreed.

And what follows is an onslaught of right-wing violence that you likely won’t hear Fox News talk about.

I wonder why Fox News doesn’t talk about this lovely neckbeard more often?

Neat.

Lovely.

The fact is that this notion that left-wing violence is rampant isn’t even a myth. It’s an outright lie. It’s simply not true, and there is data that supports that.

And with our president continuing to stoke fear and divisiveness, I imagine we’ll only see this trend worsen.
