A Ukrainian church leader who said that the COVID-19 pandemic is a result of the “sinfulness of humanity”, including same-sex marriage, has since contracted the virus himself.
I can only assume that he’s been doing a lot of really fun gay stuff.
As Daniel Villarreal wrote for NBC News:
Patriarch Filaret, 91, who leads the large Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate, contracted COVID-19 and was subsequently hospitalized, the church confirmed Friday in a statement shared on its website and on Facebook. In a follow-up statement shared Tuesday, the church said its leader’s health is “stable” as “treatment continues.”
“We ask you to continue to pray for His Holiness Patriarch Filaret, so that the All-Merciful and Almighty Lord God will heal the Patriarch,” the statement continued.
I’d say “I wish him the best,” but I won’t, because I don’t.
In March, Filaret said that the COVID-19 pandemic is “God’s punishment for the sins of men and sinfulness of humanity.” And to be sure there was no doubt in how unintelligent he is, he doubled down by explaining “First of all, I mean same-sex marriage. This is the cause of the coronavirus.”

A pro-LGBTQ group in Ukraine called Insight filed a lawsuit against Filaret in April, seeking an apology for sharing false information. In response, the Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate released a statement in April saying “As the head of the church and as a man, the Patriarch has the freedom to express his views, which are based on morality.”
Well, that’s that. His views are based on “morality” and therefore can’t be argued with. And that, in no way, is completely insane and totally detached from reality. Because obviously.
Nothing hates like Christian Love™.
