Unvaccinated Are 400% Likelier To Contribute To Measles Outbreaks

Study Indicates Unvaccinated Are 400% Likelier To Contribute To Measles Outbreaks

Measles-Outbreak A study published in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) on March 15th found that individuals who were unvaccinated accounted for about 80% of those involved in Measles outbreaks from 2000 to 2015.

This means that unvaccinated children are 400% more likely to have diarrhea, otitis media, pneumonia, encephalitis, seizures, and death as a complication of Measles.

The graph above does not account for the 231 people in the study whose vaccination status was unknown.

Vaccines work. They are safe and effective, however nothing in life is without risk. It’s true that there is a compensation program for vaccine injuries, because vaccine injuries do occur. So far, 4,524 cases have been awarded compensation from the vaccine injury program. Compare that to the 2,532,428,541 (yes, that number is correct) vaccines that have been administered, and you’ll see that only 0.00000179% of vaccinations result in an award from the injury program.

During your lifetime, you have a 0.000083% chance of being struck by lightning. You are 46 times more likely to be struck by lighting during your lifetime than you are to be awarded compensation from a vaccine injury.

Life is full of risks, and vaccines work to minimize one area of risk.

Vaccinate your damn kids.
